Joining a Weight Loss Support GroupSometimes joining a weight loss support group is just what we need for long term dieting or just to get off a diet plateau.
It helps having others who understand your efforts and are ready with a pat on the back and an encouraging smile.
Look for an organization that isn't in it just for the money. There is nothing wrong with them charging for their services, but the core of their program should be the welfare of clients.
Usually if you are required to buy most of your food from them, it will be overpriced.
Look for one that does not sell diet pills. I have been involved with Weight Watchers in the past, and know them to be a good organizaation. You pay an initial sign up fee then dues each week. At present they offer two programs from which to choose. Although they do have their own line of food, members are not required to buy or use it.
I have heard that Overeaters Anonymous is helpful, though I have never been personally involved with it. It is a 12 step program patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous.
You might want to form your own weight loss support group. Get a group of friends together, or put an ad in the newspaper. Design your own rules. Weigh together; exchange recipes; serve low calorie snacks. Sounds like fun.
Joining or forming a weight loss support group may be just the ticket to help you off that plateau.
